Best Content of the Week

I’ll admit, when I was first introduced to the idea of not praising clients (or friends/family) for weight loss, even if they had weight loss goals, I probably rolled my eyes. I didn’t have as thorough an understanding of just how complex is the relationship between many people’s self-worth, the size of their bodies, and the double-edged sword that a seemingly innocuous compliment can be.

I think having a deeper understanding of how much our words matter and how a client may internalize them is one area many of us can work on to elevate our role as trainers and our profession, overall.

Be The Coach You Wish You’d Had — Sandy Todd Webster with guest Brian Nguyen, IDEAFit Pro Show

Brian Nguyen has enjoyed a pretty cool career as a strength coach and athletic therapist, working with star athletes and professional organizations such as the Jacksonville Jaguars and the LA Avengers. He’s even worked on movie sets – and found his way into Mark Whalberg’s entourage!

In this interview, Brian talks about the importance of being part of something bigger than himself. Despite Nguyen’s experience with athletes and celebrities, he is most inspired by the stories of mothers and helping them honor the bodies they feel are somehow “broken”. Overall, this interview will help inspire you to help others.
