5 Reps: Weird, different, and getting under the bar

Next, here are a few short thoughts this week.

Money

1

Short-term people optimize for comfort. Long-term people optimize for growth. Most people take action based on what feels good this week instead of what builds something over the next five years.

2

Going to the gym taught me that when you’re in the squat rack with a loaded bar, it’s not going to lift itself. You either get under it or you don’t. Wishing it was lifted doesn’t make a damn difference. That’s what made me realize that whatever else happened during my day was irrelevant. My results were up to me. If I wanted something, it was my responsibility to go after it.

Health

1

Exercise adds years to your life. Reading books adds life to your years.

Relationships

1

People aren’t thinking about you the way that you’re thinking about you. You feel like everybody is watching and judging you. Everybody else is feeling like everybody is watching and judging them. The reality is nobody is being judged despite everybody feeling judged.

2

Weird’s just another word for different. Means you’re not average. That’s a good thing. It means that you think for yourself.
