My book launch bombed, actually (Article)
Additionally, a podcast interview went live that I want to make special note of. Jack, the host, is 18-years old. He came into the show prepared and did a wonderful job. The future is bright. Have a listen:
Everything you know about business is wrong (The Grateful Podcast)
Also, a reminder that I am presenting a workshop for the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center on March 27th. It is free to attend. Click here to reserve your spot.
Moving on, here’s a few short thoughts this week.
Money
Think about a recent mistake that you made. Got it. OK, now, because it happened in the past, you can consider the impact that it’s had on you.
Surely it challenged you. Strengthened your resolve. Taught you a thing or two about yourself, about others, and about how your world works. Maybe it changed your path, setting you down the road you’re on now.
Do you actually regret your mistake? Or, with the benefit of hindsight, are you oddly grateful for that terrible thing that happened because of what it taught you, how it strengthened you, and what it led to?
You needn’t wish for something to happen in order to be grateful that it did.

Notoriety and recognition are fine if viewed as fortunate byproducts of doing the right work, the right way. When they’re stated as the goal; when building a following is the goal; when making money when you already have enough is the goal; when anything other than the love for your work and the love for the people you surround yourself with is the goal, you’ll be lead down a path that’s destination can only be described as unhappy.
Health
1.
An observation:
Now that I’m 39, I’m finding that my body is craving more cardio, and less weights. Perhaps it’s comfort in my physique from having a hot wife, wanting to beat my kids at sports as they age, or desire to not die. Not sure why. Just been noticing a shift.
Relationships
1.
A simple habit stack I’ve found useful: When you catch yourself doom-scrolling, consciously switch to texting a friend to say hello. Convert the digital impulse into real-world connection.
2.
In a busy-life you can’t realistically maintain too many true friendships––just a couple or, in my case, just one. To that person, the highest compliment you can pay her or him is “you are useless to me.” Perfect friendship must exist outside of your job and ambition.

If you’ve been considering buying a copy of Choice (or buying copies for friends or colleagues), now is a great time––Amazon is currently offering the book at a massive 40% off.
The book speaks to microbusiness owners who have almost forgotten the value of local, community based connections.
Research tells us that most small businesses are dependent on their local communities to survive.
That we’re connected in so many deep ways. We’ve lost sight both of what matters and what works best in business.
Choice is the reminder that the online world––social media––has a time and place, but no to forget the people close to us and, if we have to choose one, to opt for the latter.
