5-Reps: Less scrolling, more connecting, and how to win even if you fail

Before we begin, here’s what’s new:

Why Has the Fitness Industry Become Elitist? (Article)

Next, here are a few short thoughts this week.

Money

1.

A useful question when contemplating a new project:

How can I win, even if I fail?

2.

Two top filters for choosing the right project:

  • What will I learn?
  • What relationships will I develop?

3.

“Once you stop believing that it might somehow be possible to avoid hard choices about time, it gets easier to make better ones. You begin to grasp that when there’s too much to do, and there always will be, the only route to psychological freedom is to let go of the limit-denying fantasy of getting it all done and instead to focus on doing a few things that count.”

-Oliver Burkeman

Health

1.

The 3 most important words I’ve learned after 24 years in the gym:

“Simplicity promotes consistency.”

Relationships

1.

Aim for 5 pings a day. To a friend, a colleague, or a family member. A quick hello, thank you, or memory recall. If you listened to a podcast you liked, email the host to say thank you. 5 pings. Flip through your contacts while you wait for a workout or a bus. Less scrolling, more connecting.

A few things or people I like and recommend

Hard Lessons from the Hurt Business by Ed Latimore got released this week. It’s been one of my most anticipated books. So much so, that I preordered 50 copies to send to our students. Ed’s a fascinating mix of stoic philosopher, athlete, mathematician, and writer.

This is your invite to Destiny Fest on Sep 13th. My friend Giovanni Marsico puts on the best business and self-development events, bar none. I’ve attended at least a dozen.

Destiny Fest 2025 is an immersive experience with some of the world’s most visionary minds. It’s designed to spark your imagination, awaken your purpose, and activate the destiny you’re here to fulfill. Get your ticket here

If more information were the answer, we’d all be billionaires with six pack abs.

Every so often somebody will inquire about the Online Trainer Mentorship and say that they don’t need a call with our team because they “already know what to do.”

They’re probably right.

There’s nothing mysterious we teach. It’s all stuff you can get for free online.

Same as your clients. There’s nothing mysterious you teach them about health and fitness––they can all get it for free online.

But are they doing what they need to do to get fit?

And are you doing what you need to do to build your business?

More information isn’t the answer. Instead, we all need (myself included) two things:

  1. An expert to sift through the noise and help us figure out only the information we need.
  2. Support, structure, and high-fives.

When it comes to building an online training business, we’re the best in the world at helping you. If that’s something you’ve been considering, please book a call with our team right away.

Whether you’re just starting or you’ve had success and feel stuck and want to scale to 5 or even 6-figures a month, we can help.
