2 Coaching Concepts

1.

Here’s a good way to break the ice with a member on the gym floor:

Grab a book about stretching.

Walk up to a member. Smile. Say hello. And point to the book saying,

“Hey, I’m Jon and I’m studying some new stretching protocols.”

*Point at the book*

“If you have time once you’re done training, I was wondering if I could give you a free stretch to practice.”

Why this works:

If you ask somebody to be a client, they’ll offer you help. If you ask them for help, they’ll become a customer.

2.

Soreness isn’t necessary.

It occurs when a client does something new.

Soreness can be a byproduct of hard work but isn’t required to get results.

Bad rest, dehydration, and poor nutrition also contribute.

Don’t celebrate when a client gets sore and stop celebrating when it happens. Great programming makes a client less sore.

Why?

Because if a client’s sore, they won’t want to come back and, even if they do, they can’t train as hard.

2 Business Nuggets

1.

The market for people who lean into their uniqueness is never saturated.

The easiest way to get customers is to become the perfect choice for a few instead of a good choice for many.

This is both scary and necessary.

2.

There’s no such thing as too high a price to everybody, only too little value.

If you’re being told that you’re ‘too expensive’ it’s not because you are, it’s either because you aren’t selling to the right people or they don’t know why you’re worth it.

And yes, you should raise your prices

1 Quote to Consider

“People who know what they’re doing know the rules know what is possible and what is impossible. You do not. And you should not. The rules of what is possible and impossible were made by people who had not yet tested the bounds of the possible by going beyond them.”

– Neil Gaiman
