Happy 5-Reps Friday!
Moving on, here are 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote to consider this week.

How to do food logs right:
Log 3 days minimum–two weekdays and one weekend day.
Have them write what they ate, and when they ate it.
No guidance or judgement on your part.
Gather info first.
2 Business Nuggets
1.
Survivorship bias assumes that success tells the whole story and ignores past failures. Nobody speaks on stage about people who make bad decisions, take insane risks, fail miserably, and live their lives as abject failures in beds of their own making.
Curated selections of successful stories skews our reality.

The hard part isn’t choosing your actions, it’s sticking with them.
Impactful daily efforts can be quite small when they’re focused. A few examples:
- Writing 500 words a day will take you 30 minutes to an hour. Do that for three and a half months and you’ll have the first draft of a 50,000 word book.
- 3 hours of exercise a week is enough to reduce your risk of heart disease, depression, weight gain, diabetes, certain types of cancers, and premature death. That’s 1.8% of your time.
- 15 personal messages every weekday touching base with potential customers is 3,900 individual people you’ve given personal attention to every year.
In every field, the examples are similar. The impactful tasks take a small percentage of the time. Most of the rest of that time is filled with notifications, interruptions, or things we’re not sure we should do but think maybe we should do for reasons we cannot explain.
1 Quote to Consider
“Life has a beginning and an end. Beyond that, it’s one long journey to enjoy.
We think that once we make a certain amount of money, that will be it and we’ll live happily every after. That’s not how it works; this ain’t no Disney shit.
As Robert Hastings wrote in his beautiful short story The Station, “sooner or later we must realize there is no one station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.””

Unbound Merino – Best. Shirts. Ever.
My favourite clothing company is the sponsor for this week’s 5 Reps Friday email.
Most days Unbound makes up my entire wardrobe but what I really want to tell you about is my one shirt – the black v-neck.
First, it’s made of merino wool which sits on my shoulders well and doesn’t ever smell (seriously). Next, it’s a plain color t. No ugly logos.
No joke, I have 12 of them. It’s all that I wear.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, moisture wicking, good-looking shirt, Unbound Merino gets my highest recommendation. I’ve worn their clothing almost every day for four years.
Go to www.unboundmerino.com and use coupon code ‘GOODMAN’ to get 10% off of your first order.
