5 Reps: Five movements, a blessed life, and no excuses

Before we begin, I flew to New York City last week for an exclusive interview about the Bitcoin Heist. If you’re interested in what happened and how I’m responding, you can watch it on YouTube or listen on Spotify.

Next, here are a few short thoughts this week.

Social media algorithms want to put content in front of people that they will like. If you create content, the clearer the signals you can give to the algorithm about what you produce and who its for, the more it will help you. In the past, I’ve tried to talk about different topics on the same platform. I think that was a mistake. The change I’ve made is to keep one topic per platform.

Health

Major cheat code in life: Lifting weights and reading books. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just books and weights. Jacked nerds are unstoppable.

There are only five movements. Upper body push, upper body pull, lower body push, lower body pull, rotation. Yeah, you could complicate it. Horizontal push and pull. Anti-rotation. Whatever. If you’re a strength coach, that matters. But for most of us, just move the weight. Intensity matters. Then come back tomorrow and do it again, just a little bit heavier, or a few more times.

Relationships

When a bad thing happens to you that is out of your control, you can complain, or you can let it light a fire under your butt and get to work. Both are perfectly reasonable reactions to a negative event. Only one of them leads to a positive outcome.

Imagine a life so blessed that you get to read great books, exercise with intensity, go for walks at sunset, spend time with your family, and cook the food you love.
