Happy 5-Reps Friday!
Moving on, here are 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote to consider this week.
2 Coaching Concepts
1.
Great workouts look boring.
No, you don’t have to do whatever jumpy squatty twirly thing your favourite fitfluencer made up today just to get in shape.
Instead, get in there and sweat.
Years from now you won’t remember what you did in the gym today anyway. It won’t make a difference. What will is that you showed up and put in the work. When you do that, your future self will thank you.

2.
Imagine you go to the gym and get the best workout in ever. Then you go home and eat perfectly that day. You wake up the next morning, excited to look in the mirror only to be disappointed by what you see; no change.
So, you do it again. Great workout, nutritious foods. After a good night’s sleep you look in the mirror; no change.
”What gives?” You think. “I must be doing something wrong.”
Grinding every day sucks. It’s tempting to ’change it up’ because changing it up feels like progress early on while sticking to a plan doesn’t.
Over time, a good plan always beats out random efforts. It just doesn’t ever feel like that in the moment.
2 Business Nuggets
1.
There’s currently 254 million posts with the hashtag #photographer on Instagram.
Unsurprisingly, the solution to getting bookings is not to somehow outdo them all when you produce #photographer post 254,000,001.
Marketing to humans has become so (in)human. Counterintuitively, what appears to be improved scalability, production quality, and reach results in increased competition and commoditization.
If you can do it, so can everybody else. With every new tool we have to use or we’ll miss out the problem gets worse.
We all start at the same parade but maybe the answer isn’t to try and stand a bit taller. Maybe the answer is to find your own parade.

2.
Most people claim they want to be an influencer but the truth is that they’d be more happy with a simple life, impacting the lives of their customers, making a good living, and being able to enjoy time with family and friends.
People are different. Some want to work hard and make as big of an impact as possible, and others are happy to do their thing in their quiet corner of the world. Neither person’s right, and neither person’s wrong.
For everybody, though, step 1 comes first. And step is to work backwards from what you sell, who its for, and figuring out a way to talk to them. Simplify things first, and you can make it more complicated later. Or not.
1 Quote to Consider
“You need to be famous to the small circle of people you are hoping will admire and trust you. Your shoe store needs to be famous to the 300 shoe shoppers in your town. Your retail consulting practice needs to be famous to 100 people at ten major corporations. Your WordPress consulting practice needs to be famous to 650 veterinarians or chiropractors. (…)
Being famous to the family is far more efficient than being famous to everyone. It takes focus, though.”
