Happy 5-Reps Friday!
This past week on the pod we got back to basics and spoke about how to use the Ben Franklin effect to get clients on the gym floor. If that’s interesting to you, please click the link below to listen:

Episode 61: Psychological Hacks to Get Clients on the Gym Floor
Moving on, here are 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote to consider this week.
2 Coaching Concepts
1.
Some quick tips when training women in the gym from Elsbeth Vaino:
- Sometimes we forget our sports bra. When that happens, skip ladder drills and plyometrics.
- Be mindful where she’s positioned when doing deadlifts.
- Be weary of encouraging barefoot training if your client spends a lot of time in heels.

2.
As trainers, we get so wrapped up in what we’re supposed to do:
Track weights, progress clients, go deep into relationship building, etc. that it’s easy to forget how complex and varied humans are.
It’s useful to remember that sometimes client’s aren’t looking for the best program to achieve lofty physique goals.
Sometimes they need more unique support.
2 Business Nuggets
1.
Routine fundamentals result in boringly predictable good outcomes.

2.
Against-all-odds stories of overcoming get shared as gospel. “If he can do it, so can you.”
Inspiration is wonderful and can be quite useful. What’s also useful is the awareness that being surprised something works is a bad thing. The only reason we’re hearing about our hero’s story is that their success was unexpected.
Think about it, would you read a book if this was the premise?
“So-and-so woke up, went pee, drank a coffee, fed the kids, took them to school, exercised, drank another coffee, executed on a few well-selected daily tasks, ate his veggies, read a book, said “I love you” to his wife (he never forgot to say “I love you” to his wife), and went to bed. He followed this routine more or less on repeat for ten years. It worked for him, and it’ll work for you, too!”
1 Quote to Consider
“It’s impossible to understand the world of today until today becomes tomorrow.” – Chuck Klosterman

Been sick all week. Bed-ridden. This never happens. I’ve eaten two bowls of cheerios and an orange in three days. Adios, sweet gainz. For now, fare thee well. But know that I’ll be back.
