Before we begin, there is still time for you to join the book launch team for The Obvious Choice: Timeless Lessons on Success, Profit, and Finding Your Way.
I’m closing doors to the team on November 8th.
Last week, I gave away $1,000 in cash, bought everybody coffee, shared a chapter of the book, and coached the team how to improve their Instagram profiles (which they found helpful!)
Would love to have you join us.
All I ask is that you pre-order a minimum of two copies of the book (any combination of formats work: audio, kindle, hardcover) and upload your receipt(s) to www.theptdc.com/team
(If you’ve already pre-ordered one, grab one more copy and load both receipts.)
Hope to see you in there. We’re having a blast!
K, cool. Here’s what’s new this week.
Obvious Choice Podcast Episodes:
Money
1.
Now, more than ever, our culture fans the flames of chaotic ambition. We can follow and interact with our idols on social media, read any one of the 11,000 new books published every day, or add to the 226 million podcast episodes downloaded weekly. It’s a firehose of inspiration and education like never before. More often than not what you’re left with isn’t confidence in your process but delusion.
Everywhere you look, somebody is achieving something better than you, faster than you, and has figured out something you need to know, or else (or else what though?)
Excerpted from The Obvious Choice (Pre-order today!)
Here’s a travel hack for you: The bed’s the most expensive part of any hotel. Don’t stay overnight at the fancy hotel. Don’t pay for the bed. Rent a place down the street and go to the hotel for your coffee.
Health
1.
Accept that you’ll get lost. Accept that you’re already lost. Explore. Try stuff. Because the more that you try stuff, the more you’ll be forced to figure it out. And the more you figure it out, the more confidence you’ll gain in your ability to figure it out. Eventually, you’ll learn that everything is figureoutable. That’s when life gets real fun.
2.
Get lost every now and then. It is essential for your creativity and perspective. Get out there. There doesn’t require a plane. It’s anywhere outside of your routine.
Throw out your maps. Don’t look it up in advance. An 85-year old who learned that he was dying once said that, “If I had my life to live over again, I’d try to make more mistakes next time. I wouldn’t try to be so perfect.” Be willing to learn on the fly. You’ll make mistakes, scrape your knees, venture in the wrong direction and be forced to backtrack. Which is a good thing. Burns more calories.
Relationships
1.
If you’ve got a meeting with a friend and something comes up at work you’ll cancel your friend and say, “I’ve got a thing.” But we don’t do the opposite. Why don’t we approach friendship with the same intentionality as our work?
A Few Good Quotes from a Great Book
“An alphabet, like a life, is a finite set of shapes. With it, one can produce almost anything.”
“There was a word for this: sonder. “The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.”

No corny joke. Just a bit of good news. Alison’s in her second trimester. We made it. We didn’t think we’d ever make it this far with pregnancy again after 8 miscarriages. But here we are! Gonna have a third baby!!!

What’s required of you if you join the book launch team for The Obvious Choice?
Been getting this question a lot.
Honestly, nothing.
Obviously I’d be grateful if you shared the book once it comes out and wrote a review, but neither is required.
All I ask is that you pre-order a minimum of two copies of the book. Any combination of formats is fine.
If you already got one, simply grab one more.
Once you do, please upload your receipt(s) to the form at www.theptdc.com/team
Last day to join is November 8th.In the group I’m:
- Sharing behind-the scenes of the launch (so you’ll learn marketing.)
- Giving away $10,000 in cash (so you might win some.)
- Providing networking opportunities (so you meet forward-thinking colleagues.)
- And fun surprise stuff like today, where I’m buying everybody a coffee.
Really hope you join us.
-Jon
P.S. If you pre-order the book and don’t love it when you get it, message me, I’ll refund you 100% of your money.
Yes, this will cost me a lot if you take me up on it. But I’m hella confident in this book. Put my heart and soul into it. And I want you to feel safe pre-ordering it and checking it out.
