BIG NEWS.
I signed a book deal with HarperCollins Leadership for The Obvious Choice book (due out early 2025).
Now back to the email.
Happy 5-Reps Friday!
2 Coaching Concepts
1.
My dad has exercised every week since I was young.
At 78, he plays with my kids on the floor while many of his friends are needing assistance.
Fitness doesn’t seem like it matters until one day, it becomes obvious.
You say you’d die for your kids.
That’s noble. But would you get healthy for them?

2.
In five years you won’t care whether you crushed your workout on August 25th, 2023 or not.
You’ll care that you showed up.
Focus on being consistent.
Fitness is a lifelong journey, not a 30-day challenge.
2 Business Nuggets
1.
The Danish philosopher Soren Aabye Kierkegaard once said that, “We understand life backwards but live it forwards.”
It’s easy to predict things after they’ve happened. In hindsight, everything seems obvious.
The human brain isn’t equipped to comprehend our modern world’s complexity. In an attempt to make sense of it all, we smooth out the edges of life and create patterns when they don’t exist.

2.
It’s okay to want to change the world.
And it’s okay to not want to change the world.
Either way, it starts with fixing what’s inside of your fence first.
Begin with the people closest to you and let it grow from there.
That, and be honest what you’re willing to do (and not do.)
Most people claim they want to be an influencer but the truth is that they’d be more happy with a simple life, impacting the lives of their customers, making a good living, and being able to enjoy time with family and friends, eating cold watermelon on a warm day not feeling like they need to take a picture of that blissful moment for the ‘gram.
1 Quote to Consider
“No one will understand you. It is not, ultimately, that important. What is important is that you understand you.”
– Matt Haig (From his wonderful book The Humans)

In Jackson Hole, Wyoming on a family vacation. Friend drove us to a secluded area to watch the sunset below the Teton mountains. Alison and I sat on the roof of the paint-chipped SUV and listened to the silence. It was bliss. Then I walked off with Calvin through the sagebrush and had an allergic reaction. SAGE. WTF!?!?! Getting old stinks I tell ya. Anyway, I’m fine now. Hope you’re good, and thanks for reading,

A quick note from Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Go on more adventures. Get lost. And don’t check your watch. The time doesn’t matter.
Life’s meant to be lived.
